Students gain perspective on homelessness

Students 经验d some of the challenges 西雅图’s unsheltered population faces on a daily basis through 城市暴跌, an annual homelessness immersive 经验. By walking the streets and hearing from social service agencies, the four-day event in April helped students encounter the complexity of people’s stories and compounding challenges, and they learned what resources are available to the city’s homeless population.

墙 co-authors “Reading Scripture as Wesleyans” article

学院 神学的 抢劫 墙保罗·T. 墙 Professor of Scripture and Wesleyan Studies, co-authored the article, “Reading Scripture as Wesleyans,” for 催化剂, a newsletter for seminarians and clergy located in and shaped by the Methodist/Wesleyan 传统. In this essay, 墙 defines the core elements of a distinctively Wesleyan reading of Scripture in worship, instruction, mission, and personal devotions. 这篇文章 is part of the rollout of The Wesley One-Volume Bible 评论 (Abingdon Press, 2020), co-edited by 墙. 墙 retired in June 2021 after 43 years at 西雅图 Pacific University.

McCaulley delivers Palmer Lecture

牧师. 佳能以扫 McCaulley, PhD, gave the 2021 virtual Alfred S. Palmer lecture, “Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope” in February. McCaulley is a New Testament scholar and Anglican priest who studied under N.T. 莱特. 他的 lecture, based on his second book, looked at the 传统 of African American biblical interpretation and argued that the Bible is rightly understood when read from a decidedly Black perspective.

Fledgling entrepreneurs study intersection of faith 和业务

A weekly small group of juniors and seniors, Entrepreneur in the Making, met to examine the intersection of faith 和业务. The group was a collaboration between the School of Business, Government, and 经济学 and University Ministries to provide accountability, networking, and talent management for SPU student-entrepreneurs who want to influence the world with their social impact ventures.
